A man of justice, humility, and service – those are the words friends and colleagues used to describe former Meridian Police Chief, James Gregory “Gregg” Lewis.

Lewis passed away on Monday, May 27th, surrounded by his friends and family.

Visitation services for Lewis will be held on Thursday, May 30th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home.

The funeral service will take place the next day, Friday, May 31st from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home.

Dr. Roy McNeill will officiate the service.

“Gregg Lewis was one of my personal heroes. Here’s a man who served his country in the Marines, served his community on the police force, served students as an employee of Lauderdale County Schools,” said McNeill. “A man of justice, of service, of goodness, of humility, a hard worker – like I said, just one of my personal heroes.”
